Ari co-organised the 2013 and 2014 Better Block event days in Clovelly Road, Sydney.
The 2014 event was developed and coordinated under the banner of The Park to Pacific Association (P2P). The concept of these streetscape pop-ups is short term action to drive longer term change. They demonstrate ways the community can make their streets better places to live, work and socialise - with additional trees, parklets, street art, an increase in public amenity elements e.g. seating, creative public spaces and reduced traffic speeds.
P2P now consults with the Randwick Council in response to the overwhelming community support for elements in the trials. These discussions focus on the preparation of a masterplan for Clovelly Road, from Centennial Park to Clovelly Beach, including a street tree strategy, development of standardised commercial-node materials e.g. paving and the incorporation of a bike lane.
